Video Shows Metroid Prime Trilogy Looks Worse Than Originals

And as you all know, you can believe everything on the internet. So here’s the video.

It starts out with the original look first, and than around the 2:20-ish mark, it switches to the new look in Metroid Prime: Trilogy. Now, when you really look at the video, you’ll only really be able to tell two things are different (aside from a different suit). One, The water doesn’t look as good (No ripples when you splishy-splash in the water), and two, some minor particle effects may or may not be missing, but most notable, the ice beam. In the original, your cannon arm would freeze over when charged, and the ice would shatter off when you fired. In the Wii version, it just…charges. other than that, the controls look to be smoother on the Wii-logy and the HUD might look a little crispier, but I can’t tell because it’s not in wide-screen and it’s uploaded to YouTube.

Reguardless of no ripples in the water and no arm-ice, I’m still getting this, and I’ll have it on my shelf, proudly, next to the original Primes…after I play the hell out of it, of course. I don’t know why such minor details would be so “OMG RAGE” but it might be because, in theory, I’ve become so black-hearted and subjective, I’ve actually overlapped into objectivity. It could happen!

E3 2009: Nintendo Reminds Me I’m Fat

Well, I just finished watching Nintendo’s E3 Presser on G4, and I have mixed emotions about the whole ordeal. The first half-hour was filled with the Big N shoving their success in everyone’s face, which everyone does, but they talked a bit about the Wii Motion Plus which I’m looking forward to using with my Lightsaber Sim Lucasarts has yet to announce, and there was some talk about Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports resort, which I really don’t care about, but I’m sure they’ll be selling a lot in the near future.

After that was a lot of talk about the new Mario games which don’t really seem new to me, but instead are just rehashes of prior games. Well Yoshi is going to be in the new Super Mario Galaxy 2, so, eh. Maybe. But the announcement of a new Golden Sun game for the DS got my hopes up, just a little bit…

And then Iwata came on and talked about Nintendo’s philosophies and what not, and then I woke up to him discussing the Wii Vitality Sensor.

*sigh* Just another tease for something that Nintendo is actually working on, which is a scary thought, Ninty working on such an accessory.

More random blurbs after the hump!

Nintendo’s Keynote from GDC ’09

I know I would post soon, but, I’m just having a tough time deciding what I want to post about. Well, let’s put that behind us and see what I have to whine about today. GDC started on the 23rd, which was nice, but I’ve been waiting for Nintendo’s keynote, which was nice. Aside from telling how many DS and Wii units they’ve sold, Nintendo talked about a Wii firmware update (which is already up and you can download) added support to play from SDHC cards up to a size of 32GB. Awesome! More after the hop.
