72-Hours for an Extra Life

I say 72-hours, but really, it’s more like an attempt for 72-hours. I can already tell you it won’t happen, but that doesn’t mean I can’t try. Oh, I mean a 72-hour gaming marathon, of course. You know, for Extra Life. Yeah, that thing, which I’m starting at 7am EST today on this day which is Friday. Because, why not? Don’t answer that.

So, what will I be doing? For one, attempting to stream it live on my livestream (or click the tab that says “Livestream”) assuming my internet can play nice for once. So, there’s that, and I may or may not open a public hangout for random strangers to come yell at me in Google+, but, well, we’ll see. But, what games will I be playing? Let’s go over a list of what I probably will play.

Bastion
Minecraft
Guild Wars
TES4: Oblivion
Fallout: New Vegas
City of Heroes
Rusty Hearts
And maybe something else, if those don’t eat all of my time.

And, of course, I will be joined by my brother on this quest, but he is Mr. Crankypants, so don’t expect our witty banter all the time as he’ll have to take a nap every so often.

I tell ya, It’s going to be a busy weekend and you’re all invited to watch and listen to me slowly lose my mind. It’ll be good fun for everyone, promise. And if you feel like supporting a good cause, well, I already gave that link. Also, don’t forget Pink Day in TOMORROW, so if you play Guild Wars, be sure to come hang out in any one of the 15-or-so International Districts of Lion’s Arch for a good time and a great cause. And if you don’t, that’s fine too.

Stay lazy, good fellows, and stay awesome.

One More Extra Life on Pink Day

Luna's gonna loon

Aerosmith is still cool. Also, it’s funny because one would think I would post Pinkie Pie with that caption, but Pinkie Pie isn’t my favorite pony. And since the front page of my blog needs at least one pony, I figure, “Why not my favorite?” Hence, Luna with the text overlay! I mean, look at her! She looks so happy! Wait, what was I going to talk about?

So, 4 years ago. The summer of 2007. Guild Wars was strong as ever as and everyone was waiting for Eye of the North to be released. The guild I was in, Burning Dragons of Tyria (now Draconus Reincarnatus) was slowly growing and the game was still fun. I mean, it still is, but it was more like a fresh-fun back in the day. Anyway, 4 years ago there was this crazy idea that three very cool people in the guild came up with. If you’ve not figured out what I’m talking about, it’s Pink Day in LA. Anyway, the three of us (Kitty, who’ve I’ve not seen in forever, Rayala or Ray Ray as I like to call her (who does awesome art and has a twitter account she rarely uses *le cough* @LaRayala, and yours truly) sat around in Lion’s Arch talking about cool things that cool people talk about when we came up with the idea, and a month and a few weeks later there was Pink Day in LA 2007. In Defense of My Mad Skills

And let’s face it, I have very mad skills. Angry, skills, you could say. Border-line rage-inducing skills, even!

In yesterday’s ArenaNet blog post, Jon Peters went on to share with everyone the updates that would be present in the Gamescom and PAX Prime demo of Guild Wars 2. Some, we already heard about, such as character customization (which my entire demo time will be spent on come the weekend of PAX) and playable sylvari and asura! there are a few others note-worthy items, but, I’m not here to talk about that. No, dear reader, we’re going to delve into skills and what changes await them and their kind. Continue reading
