Anyway, it’s come to my attention, via Engadget, that after CES, a bunch of awesome speed-freaks, whom had access to a lot of liquid nitrogen and liquid helium, decided to create an environment in which they could OC the latest AMD Phenom II X4 in less than -230 degrees Celsius weather. Once the silicon was chilled enough, the group proceeded to ramp up the clock speed to a whopping 6.5 GHz, which ended up giving a 3DMark05 score of 45,474.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but when I read about liquid nitrogen or liquid helium cooling gadgets and gizmos, I get a big grin on my face, and of course, a massive hadron. And the event was in front of a live audience, and there’s even a video…after the jump!
