AMD’s Phenom II pushed to 6.5GHz, I Get a Massive Hadron

Me and my witty titles (teehee). Anyway, it’s come to my attention, via Engadget, that after CES, a bunch of awesome speed-freaks, whom had access to a lot of liquid nitrogen and liquid helium, decided to create an environment in which they could OC the latest AMD Phenom II X4 in less than -230 degrees Celsius weather. Once the silicon was chilled enough, the group proceeded to ramp up the clock speed to a whopping 6.5 GHz, which ended up giving a 3DMark05 score of 45,474.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but when I read about liquid nitrogen or liquid helium cooling gadgets and gizmos, I get a big grin on my face, and of course, a massive hadron. And the event was in front of a live audience, and there’s even a video…after the jump!

Finally, something I can look into buying, for once, instead of looking at it everyday with a eye-full of tears. It looks like the cards might not have the longevity of other, more expensive cards, but it can save some very-much needed money. And who doesn’t love more money? Well I could be getting worked up over nothing, but I’m running an ATI Radeon 4500, which is only 256mb. That Radeon HD 4550 is looking mighty-fine right about now.
