It’s no secret that I love chiptunes. If you follow me on Twitter, you no doubt see me linking to a new chiptune I found or retweet the latest track by @videogamedj. So, there should be no surprise when I start making posts about chiptunes, because I really should post more about chiptunes. There are some really hidden gems that don’t get the amount of love they deserve, but that’ll soon change. I hope.
To start it all off, let’s talk about a fantastic collab between a huge list of chiptune artists that is magical on so many levels. Back in the early days of June, Chiptunes = WIN was released and featured a huge list of 51 different chiptune tracks all by 51 different chiptune artists. Basically, a huge community of chiptune artists got together and made a compilation album that is fantastic. Obviously I like some more than others. Some are mellow and easy-listening while others are more beat-pounding and something to bang your head with, but the point is, if you like chiptunes, you really should have heard this by now. Now, months later and on a better release schedule than most game publishers, and I’m eagerly waiting for the release of the Chiptunes = WIN EXPANSION PACK! Who knew albums could have DLC? The new album is promising 22 new tracks by 22 different artists come the 1st of October. More awesome is that at 8PM EST tomorrow over at Areciboradio.com during the 8bit Power Hour, the whole time will be dedicated to this latest compilation release!
