Piracy Killed The PC Star

Yes, me and my witty titles!

Anyway, as 1UP’s Kris Pigna says in his latest article, “It seems these days as though not a week can go by without a publisher or developer having something to say about the dire state of PC piracy.” And yeah, I guess it’s true.

I mean, look at Spore. It was out on torrent sites before it was even released. But all is not lost for PC gamers. Instead of releasing games with the console releases, developers can just hold it back a few…months. The latest example of this method comes from Ubisoft Shanghai with Tom Clancy’s EndWar. Check out the small 1UP article, here.

As for me, I’m pretty sure this won’t have a big impact either way. It’s not like piracy has made PC game sales bad, again, look at Spore. I’m not saying piracy helps, I’m not saying that it kills PC gaming either, but it’s somewhere between those two, but I think it could be safe to say, but piracy actually helps sales…sometimes.

Of course blaming crap sales on piracy when the game is crap itself is not really fair…You know who you are!
