So, as I was saying, before I never came back to finish talking about the best Saturday I’ll ever have, at the end of the super-cool meeting, I went back to the Guild Wars 2 demo for another round instead of looking to see what else was around. I’m lazy like that. I decided to make another human ranger and instead of plowing through it all I went exploring around the countryside and discovered a few more events I didn’t see my first play-through. If I had the chance, I wouldn’t leave, but it was crowded, it was always crowded when we were there (except Saturday morning) so I can tell you Guild Wars 2 is something a lot of fans and other folks are looking forward to.
Anyway, after that run, I decided to head back to our hotel and chill for a bit before heading out. To where? Well, another super-secret-cool meeting, except this time at the Hard Rock Cafe a few blocks away from the convention center where the elite of the elite of Guild Wars got to hang out and chat with each other and ArenaNet staff. The best part for me, actually, was hearing how everyone I talked to was so genuinely enthusiastic and excited about their work on Guild Wars 2, that you can’t help but think it will be one of the greatest video games this generation.
Not only did I meet up and hang out, talk with, etc, with ArenaNet staff (Mike O’Brien AND Gaile Gray AND Regina, by the way!), I finally hung out at some length with my friend/boss-lady, Rhonda (M A L I B U Barbie of Guild Wars fame) who actually got me the ticket for the event, which means I can’t bug her about not getting paid for making the website anymore…oh well!
There was food and drink to, I guess, but like I said before the real treat was talking at length with fans and staff about Guild Wars past and future. And seeing how awesome-crazy some of them can be!
Nuts, right? Anyway, that was Day 2 of PAX 2010, and it was, by far, the best experience I could hope for, and it’s all thanks to a game that was released 6 years ago and those who help create it.
