Nintendo Hit with Another Lawsuit for Waggling

Over at Game Daily there’s an article of yet another lawsuit filed against Nintendo for their Wii Motion Control. That’s right, another. Back in May, Nintendo was ordered to pay $21 Million to Anascape Ltd. for violating its patents (Wii Classic, WaveBird and GameCube controllers). So here we are again! This time, an Ohio-based company, Motiva, is saying that Nintendo’s Wii controllers are violating their patent, which dates back to sometime in June 2004.

More after the jump.

The patent in question “involves technology used to create a ‘Human Movement Measurement System’ comprising a hand-held tracking device in communication with a base station that can be used to create an interactive gaming experience, among other capabilities.” iPod owners should beware as those who use certain technology to measure how far they walk using “a hand-held tracking device(pedometer) in communication with a base station (iPod).” I’m pretty sure I could throw some more examples out there on how much bull this is, but I’ll leave you all to imagine.

Oh and before I forget, also in the article, on behalf of Motiva, Mr. Lanier, of The Lanier Law Firm, went on to say, “Using someone else’s technology without permission is theft. Nintendo makes video games where you get to play a thief, but that doesn’t give them the right to be one.”

Oh the laughs I get when I read that line over and over again!
