E3 2009: Nintendo Reminds Me I’m Fat
Posted on June 2nd, 2009 No commentsWell, I just finished watching Nintendo’s E3 Presser on G4, and I have mixed emotions about the whole ordeal. The first half-hour was filled with the Big N shoving their success in everyone’s face, which everyone does, but they talked a bit about the Wii Motion Plus which I’m looking forward to using with my Lightsaber Sim Lucasarts has yet to announce, and there was some talk about Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports resort, which I really don’t care about, but I’m sure they’ll be selling a lot in the near future.
After that was a lot of talk about the new Mario games which don’t really seem new to me, but instead are just rehashes of prior games. Well Yoshi is going to be in the new Super Mario Galaxy 2, so, eh. Maybe. But the announcement of a new Golden Sun game for the DS got my hopes up, just a little bit…
And then Iwata came on and talked about Nintendo’s philosophies and what not, and then I woke up to him discussing the Wii Vitality Sensor.

*sigh* Just another tease for something that Nintendo is actually working on, which is a scary thought, Ninty working on such an accessory.
More random blurbs after the hump!
And there was some talk about Third-party developers making games for the Wii, games like Dead Space Extraction, The Conduit, and that new Resident Evil game. They all look good, and they all show what potential there is for third-party developers, but is it enough?
Nearing the end of it all, all hope seemed lost in that Nintendo would release something decent, but then, Reggie began talking about joining forces with developers to improve old franchises and IPs. The screen behind him begins to show…Well here, watch it for yourself.
Get the Flash Player to see this content.Yeah. That’s right.
Metroid.
Well that’s all in well, but I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling that Nintendo announced too little core games too late, but still, Team Ninja in the Metroid universe, it’s going to have to be good, right?
Anyway, coming up later? Sony’s Press Conference at E3, so stay tuned, I might bitch about them too!
