So, About This ‘SOPA’ Thing

Yes, a belated “Happy New Year!” and an even more late “Happy holiday!” to everyone. It’s a new year, but for me it’s just another day of college and web design so forgive me if I withhold my enthusiasm. Now then, to the main meat of this post, but before I do, I want to make a thing or three clear. I don’t like using the word ‘hate’. I try not to use it because I don’t actually hate many things. So when I say, “I hate politics.” I want the full meaning to get through. I don’t hate the people in politics or governments, but most of the time I’ll disagree with some of their views. I’m too lazy to hate, but politics can get my brows all furled in anger. So, with that little note out of the way, let’s get to the topic at hand. Continue reading

Ridley Scott on the Alien Prequel

So, apparently, sometime last year, master film director Ridley Scott signed on for an Alien prequel, and no one told me, or I wasn’t paying attention, either way, this is news to me. What is news to everyone else, is what the film will be about. Enter MTV and their interview with the legend, who says, “There’s no question about it, we’re going to make the film” and is currently working on the script’s fourth draft. So, what is it about?

“It’s set in 2085, about 30 years before Sigourney [Weaver's character Ellen Ripley]. It’s fundamentally about going out to find out ‘Who the hell was that Space Jockey?’ The guy who was sitting in the chair in the alien vehicle — there was a giant fellow sitting in a seat on what looked to be either a piece of technology or an astronomer’s chair. Remember that?”

Yes. Yes I do, and I remember being a really young kid and thinking that was the scariest part of the movie. Well, until the chestburster at least. Anyway, Scott says he hopes to have it in theaters by the end of 2011 or early 2012 and I can’t wait for it. I’m ecstatic for an Alien prequel, especially for it being in 3D, but I also fear that it might not be able to compare with the original, but that is the thing about prequels and sequels. They are never better than the original, but it never hurts to try, right? Anyway, you can head over to MTV for the full interview.
