  • Dungeons & Dragons Has The Touch, Has The Power

Multi-touch surfaces have been around for a little while, and still has a way to go before being used by everyone for everyday needs, but already I can see no other greater use for such a device other than to play DnD on it.

Obviously still a work in progress, this demo comes to us courtesy of the team Surfacescapes at the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University, and it shows off a lot the potential fun that could be had by anyone interested enough. Of course you’d have to get pass the price of such a table, but it’d be totally worth it. Totally.

  • Guild Wars 2, The Artbook That Steals Souls

ArenaNet has finally let loose of its Guild Wars 2 art book that was originally only given out at this past PAX! All 127 and 1 glorious pages of fantastic concept art for Anet’s upcoming MMO, Guild Wars 2, can now be yours, if you pay for it, as it will not, I repeat, NOT, be bundled with the Collector’s Edition of the game, which has left me to ponder, “What could they possibly throw into the CE to make it worth while?” The original Guild Wars art book was the only reason I got the Prophecies CE on the first day of release! I suppose we shall soon see, but if you want to wait and look at something else, after the bump are 5 pages from the book I need to go buy!

  • Mid-Weekend Notes, I’m Lazy

Posted on July 25th, 2009 Connor "The Lazy Geek" No comments

Yes, believe it or not, I’m busy lazy, hence the title of this blog, but, I finally found some time to spend on a quick note or two about what I’ve been doing exactly, and maybe some geeky stuff. :)

First off, if you’ve been following MMOs, you know the Global Agenda beta weekend is in progress. Cool, right? I’m just saying, nothing more. Well, aside from that bit of, information, my time has been with the soon-to-be-released Dungeons & Dragons: Unlimited beta in which I’ve made a Warforged Monk named Focal. I love Focal. He makes me smile while in anticipation for the release, which is supposed to be sometime in August. Finally, wrapping up the MMO beta fun, is Champions Online, which I “found” a closed beta key for, which is kinda funny, actually, seeing as how it was announced that the Open Beta for the superhero MMO will be August 17th. Oh well, beggars can’t be choosers, but they can whore themselves out for beta access.

In other news, a long while ago (I forget when, on the account of my horrible memory) a trailer was teased at last year’s Comic-Con for a new Disney film. This trailer was then leaked, in all of it’s blurry, geeky glory, and there was much glee. I of course, speak of the TR2N teaser trailer. Well, now you can see it, and download it, in full, minus the crappy cam … the trailer, that is. *Drools*

  • Mid-Week Notes, I’m Still Alive

Posted on July 8th, 2009 Connor "The Lazy Geek" No comments

Okay, yes, posting new articles and what-nots is slow, but I blame Runes of Magic. And Michael Jackson dying :| . In the meantime, I’ve still been keeping an eye out for some cool techy and geeky stuff to be had across the net, and I found some, so let’s talk a bit, and I even have clips for you!

First, Google finally announced its Chrome OS for netbooks coming towards the end of 2010. There were whispers of the idea before, but now, it’s true, and personally while I don’t want another OS to want to check out, I’m very interested in the idea that Google is making an OS. Mind boggling, I know. From the post on Google’s blog, “Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010.” Like I said, I’m interested. So interested I just might have to get another low-end computer to throw it on. Why? Well, sure as hell not because of my coding experience which, for the most part, does not exists, but because I can. If the Chrome OS is anything like the browser, maybe, just maybe, Microsoft will have to step up.

Next up, ‘Penn & Teller: Bullshit!’ is ready to get Jack Thompson on a ‘Television is evil!’ tirade. While news that, in their seventh season of ‘Bullshit!’, Penn & Teller would be covering video games in a early episode is nothing new, the fact is that this episode is to air tomorrow(Thursday) night at 10PM EST. There’s even a small clip of it that I’m sure will make Jacky Boy a tad bit upset. I love these guys.

Obviously this guy hasn’t heard of a cleric. Gawd wut a n00b!!1!

Finally, what do you get when you try to bring the popular Valve-developed video game, Portal, back to the 80s? You get a nostalgic nerd-gasm. True story, watch the clip.

Get the Flash Player to see this content.

Phew. Good stuff, right? Anyway, you can check out more at Cymon’s Games.

Oh, so now you get the title, right? :)

So, with all three of these little news tidbits, one can only wonder when Jack Thompson will become an underground, experimental test subject for Goggle’s new OS?
