  • The Man Your Man Could Viral Market Like

Posted on July 13th, 2010 Connor "The Lazy Geek" No comments

If you’ve been following anything Old Spice-related, you’ve noticed today a lot of videos popping up that are video-replies to tweets and YouTube and Facebook comments and every single one of them are pure gold…if gold was not replaced by Old Spice as a high-value trading commodity. Old Spice and The Old Spice Guy AKA Isaiah Mustafa (AKA the guy I wish I could be) have won my heart forever, and infinite win of the internet. This is viral marketing done with perfection, and for it, I thank you with all my lazy heart.

The only question though, is would Old Spice cure my laziness or would it just turn me into a very manly lazy-man sitting in front of a computer desk made entirely of 20-sided dice?

    If only…if only.

  • Simon Cottee Presents, The Pixel

Posted on May 25th, 2010 Connor "The Lazy Geek" No comments

A new video going around by Simon Cottee, creator of Rule, in which he explains the pixel and what it means for people, or rather what it could mean, alongside interesting points brought up by SiD creator Jason Rohrer, chiptune artist Dot.AY, and Studio Joho. It’s a very interesting watch, even if you’re not into the whole pixel art or chiptune scene. Also it gave me something meaningful to post about in the last few weeks. :) Video and more after the jump.

God dammit! I just got through posting my thoughts about the GW2 design manifesto when i’m hit with, well, the following.

Over on the main Guild Wars 2 site, there is an article by the lead designer for GW2, Eric Flannum, who will be telling players about the Races, Professions, lore, and game systems over the next few months. I’m giddy with excitement!

  • Ridley Scott on the Alien Prequel

Posted on April 24th, 2010 Connor "The Lazy Geek" No comments

So, apparently, sometime last year, master film director Ridley Scott signed on for an Alien prequel, and no one told me, or I wasn’t paying attention, either way, this is news to me. What is news to everyone else, is what the film will be about. Enter MTV and their interview with the legend, who says, “There’s no question about it, we’re going to make the film” and is currently working on the script’s fourth draft. So, what is it about?

“It’s set in 2085, about 30 years before Sigourney [Weaver's character Ellen Ripley]. It’s fundamentally about going out to find out ‘Who the hell was that Space Jockey?’ The guy who was sitting in the chair in the alien vehicle — there was a giant fellow sitting in a seat on what looked to be either a piece of technology or an astronomer’s chair. Remember that?”

Yes. Yes I do, and I remember being a really young kid and thinking that was the scariest part of the movie. Well, until the chestburster at least. Anyway, Scott says he hopes to have it in theaters by the end of 2011 or early 2012 and I can’t wait for it. I’m ecstatic for an Alien prequel, especially for it being in 3D, but I also fear that it might not be able to compare with the original, but that is the thing about prequels and sequels. They are never better than the original, but it never hurts to try, right? Anyway, you can head over to MTV for the full interview.

  • Proper Use of the iPad

The iPad. Oh, the iPad. Recently launched and already hacked but what do you show off first? Emulation.

The video above is showing off a jailbroken iPad playing two N64 games, Super Smash Bros. and Super Mario 64. It looks good. Great, almost, if the sound wasn’t so, well, emulated. Sound has always been a problem for emulators. and then there’s the control issue which just looks painful, but who cares? You can play N64 games on your brand new iPad! Now, when your friends laugh at you for having one, you can show them that.

I still wish I had one.
